Conference Content
This conference brings together early career researchers and practitioners (such as PhD students, Post-Doc researchers and recently qualified professionals) from a variety of different disciplines, all focussed on the physical and biological processes within the coastal environment. In the past, this has included presentations on a diverse selection of topics, such as, but not limited to: marine renewables, the impact of flooding and climate change, coastal erosion and morphological modelling, and the effects of pollution.
YCSEC provides a unique opportunity for young coastal scientists and engineers, working in academia and industry, to present their work and network with their peers in an informal and welcoming setting. The conference will incorporate a mix of 15 minute oral presentations and poster presentations with optional popup presentations (3 minutes and one slide). The site visit from Shoreham to Black Rock will provide you with an insight into how a thriving city and busy port form part of the UNESCO biosphere.
Who should attend?
This conference welcomes delegates who are in the early stages of their career. This includes graduate practitioners and post-graduate students (MRes, MSc and PhD Students). The interdisciplinary audience and subject areas are designed to promote connections and integration between young coastal scientists and engineers
Why attend?
YCSEC is renowned for providing a welcoming and supporting environment to present and discuss research. It is a great opportunity to interact with a small community of researchers, allowing you to expand your knowledge and network.
Conference Format:
We invite participants to submit abstracts on link above and share their work via Oral Presentations, dedicated Poster Sessions and ‘Popup Presentation’ slots. More information will be given to authors before the conference but in brief:
- Oral Presentations will consist of 15 minutes presentations with 5 minutes for questions ,
- Poster Sessions with Popup-Presentation – Posters will be displayed in the foyer outside of the lecture theatre where we will congregate for breaks. All poster authors will be offered a 3-minute popup presentation slot on a single slide to showcase part of your work or to pose a question on a problem that you are looking to solve. The popup slots are optional, but if you are nervous about giving your first public presentation this offers you a gentle introduction.
We encourage submissions to all formats but reserve the right to switch between Oral and Poster depending on the schedule allowance.
