Water Reuse for Sustainable Futures: Could you be our next fully sponsored PhD student?

Understanding public perceptions of water reuse technologies is imperative to support sustainable and regenerative water futures. As part of the Future Societies Doctoral Training Alliance a multi-disciplinary team of water-focused researchers from the University of Brighton’s https://www.brighton.ac.uk/aquatic/index.aspx are looking for someone to potentially undertake a three-year PhD with them starting in autumn 2021:  https://unialliance.ac.uk/dta/futuresocieties/.

The project – Water sustainability: Public perceptions and health implications of water reuse – offers a stipend of over £15,000 per annum, a supported doctoral research programme, and training in a range of natural and social science techniques. The project’s aim is to assess the viability of low-cost water reuse options and their potential reception by a range of different water users. You’ll be working with an experienced team of three: Dr Ian Mayor-Smith, a wastewater treatment scientist; Dr Alison Lansley, a biopharmaceutist specialising in cytotoxicity, and Dr Mary Gearey a social scientist focusing on water governance and regenerative futures. The ideal candidate will be a post-graduate, already engaged with some form of water reuse research, who is looking to develop a range of quantitative and qualitative empirical research skills across disciplines. Though the primary research is exploring adaptive techniques and public perceptions within the UK there is optionality to work with partners in Canada, the USA and Australia. For further information please contact Dr Ian Mayor-Smith I.P.Mayor-Smith@brighton.ac.uk or the University of Brighton’s Doctoral College: doctoralcollege@brighton.ac.uk
