Welcome to our new and returning apprentices from Dr. David Oloke
As you settle into the new academic year, our Head of Technical Education and Apprenticeships, Dr. David Oloke, has prepared this message for you to let you know what it means to be an apprentice at the University of Brighton, and some key reminders on how to succeed this year.
Your Apprenticeship Journey
The apprenticeship team are here to support you throughout the year – we’ve designed your apprenticeship to deliver a unique blend of hands-on experience and academic learning, so that you gain valuable skills and knowledge while making meaningful contributions in the workplace.
You will have received lots of information about your course and the university in your welcome, so we’ve gathered everything together in one place so you can stay on track this year and succeed in your studies.
Record Attendance
You will be asked to register or sign in when you attend your lectures – please do this! Ongoing attendance forms part of your evidence file, to evidence your learning and engagement throughout your apprenticeship.
Off the job logs
Completing and uploading off the job logs every 4 weeks enables you to keep track of your learning, so it’s really important! You should upload your off the job logs to your SharePoint area.
Tripartite progress reviews
You should attend your tripartite reviews which take place at regular intervals throughout the year. The course team will reach out with details, but these reviews should be attended by you (the apprentice), your workplace manager/supervisor/mentor, and your academic tutor. These should also be signed and uploaded to your evidence folder in SharePoint.
Apprenticeship Tutors
You will have an apprenticeship tutor assigned to your course – they are here to help! Please reach out to them if you have any questions or concerns about your apprenticeship.
Welcome!
Finally, we hope you’ve been settling in well, and we welcome you to the apprenticeship programme.
We are here to support you on your educational journey, and we can’t wait to see all you achieve.
