-Rites of Passage- Ceremonies that mark important transitional periods in a person’s life, e.g. birth, puberty, marriage, raising children and death. It is characterised by three different phases: separation, transition and return.

-Coming of Age- the Transition from being young to becoming an adult.

-Odyssey- a long journey full of adventures/ a series of experiences that give knowledge or understanding to someone.

-Pilgrimage- a journey, often into an unknown or foreign place, in search of personal growth and understanding. It can lead to personal transformation.

-Peregrination- A long and meandering journey.

-Migration- the movement of people from one place to another with intentions of settling, either permanently or temporarily.

-Excursion- a short journey, especially taken as a leisure activity.
