Meet the staff: Michael Spooner

Michael Spooner is L4,5&6 tutor on our Interior Architecture BA(Hons).

Michael is an architect and educator, with a passion for understanding how people and cities work.  He trained in medical science in Canada and Japan, before arriving in London to study at the AA, RIBA Studio and Bartlett. As associate director at dRMM, he led the design and delivery of many award-winning projects, including the 2017 Stirling prize-winning Hastings Pier.

Lucy is a spatial designer and educator who has worked in a range of settings including film, exhibition design, collaborative design through making, architectural practice alongside working in education where she has taught L5&6 Design Studio since 2016. As of 2021 Lucy has begun co-course leading the Interior Architecture BA(Hons) course and running the L4 Design Studio.

Art and media students work on Photography Club project with Photoworks

Three students (Olivia Gallichan, Anna Mika and Naomi Ross-Mason) recently worked with the University of Brighton Outreach team on Photography Club, a nine-week initiative run with Photoworks and artist Lindsey Smith which enables young people to meet regularly, develop their camera skills alongside a professional photographer, produce photography and gain an Arts Award qualification.
