Graduates 2022: Ellis Thomas-Pam: Fine Art Painting

“The fine art painting course at Brighton has been a great opportunity to develop my practice, meeting many painters and artists that have expanded my ideas and thoughts about painting. Brighton has been an exciting city to live in, with a strong community of artistic people.”

Thoughts about the connections we make as humans through our senses is analysed to find the right marks and colour to create an image of substance that communicates the subject across with a sense of honestly.

How have you found your course and time at Brighton?

I have found the fine art painting course at Brighton a great opportunity to develop my practice over the three years, meeting many painters and artist’s that have expanded my ideas and thoughts about painting. Brighton has been an exciting city to live in, with a strong community of artistic people.

How did you choose your course – why did you choose to study Painting?

I chose the painting course because I felt I needed to be around other painters to gain further knowledge of what painting could do and how I could expand my own pictorial language to become something of my own.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation I am hoping to get into the Royal Drawing School and dive deeper into expanding my pictorial language and to gain more opportunities in getting more experience in teaching. If this doesn’t happen this year, I will plan to rent a studio and continue to work on my portfolio.
