Architecture graduate debuts at Chelsea

An award-winning Brighton graduate has designed her first garden for the Chelsea Flower Show.

Lilly Gomm studied architecture at the University of Brighton until 2012 and recently joined Hillier Nurseries which enjoys a record-breaking gold medal run and is the most successful exhibitor in the history of the Show.

Hillier is partnering the power tool company Stihl for the ‘Stihl Hillier Garden’ for the 2019 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Show from 21 to 25 May. Her design includes an eye-catching water feature visible from all angles of the garden.

She is now combining her love of architecture with her love of plants and has already collected a host of awards including a silver-gilt at last year’s RHS Hampton Court Flower Show.

Lilly said: “I really enjoyed my time at Brighton, it’s a great city to be a student in and studying architecture provided me with a solid foundation of knowledge to use elsewhere in the design industry.”
