Graduate scoops wool innovation award

Textiles MDes graduate Megan Lovett has scooped a Wool Innovation Award.

The £5000 prize is given on behalf of the Worshipful Company of Woolmen and The Company of Merchants of the Staple of England. The annual award is given to innovation which is commercially viable.

Megan mixes her own woven wool fabrics and then casts them on to knitting machines. Through a combination of well-chosen design and colours she has created extremely innovative articles for apparel and other uses.

Megan plans to spend the prize money to buy raw materials and for further research into items which she is developing.  She is currently preparing her collection on machinery which she has at home whilst working full time in the Textile industry.

She will receive her Award plus a framed Certificate from the Lord Mayor of London on 25th October at the Woolmen’s Civic Dinner at Clothworkers Hall in the City of London.
