Thursday 13th and Friday 14th July 2017

The theme of the 2017 conference is the dynamic interrelationships between leadership development and change. Calas and Smircich (1991:568) in reflecting upon their experiences of American leadership conferences famously commented ‘…the more things change, the more they remain the same’.  Leadership and change are frequently linked together in organizations, societies, and governments, yet Calas and Smircich’s concern still appears to be relevant, encouraging us to reflect upon how leadership is (is not) changing.

This international conference is aimed at leadership and management; academics, practitioners, policy makers and students. We welcome contributions in the form of full papers, developmental papers, and workshops.  You may wish to critique what is wrong with leadership development and explain how such development should change.  Or you may wish to appreciate what really works and use this as a means to encourage change in leadership development.  We hope to theme your contributions together during the two days with potential themes including, but not restricted to:

  • Leadership development in different contexts (public, private and voluntary sectors)
  • Leadership development, gender, and diversity
  • Leadership development and organizational transformation/change
  • Leadership development power and politics
  • Leadership development and psychodynamics
  • Leadership coaching and development
