Working with Video

Tuesday 19th April 2016

Video content and delivery is becoming an increasingly important teaching tool and can provide a further dimension to students’ learning. This can be delivered ‘live’ using a variety of broadcasting apps or made available as an online resource as part of a flipped classroom approach.

This session will look at one example of each. Firstly we will demonstrate how easy it is to record and share a lecture, presentation or instructional material etc. using Fuse app on a mobile or tablet device. Fuse is a free app for both Android and iOS which connects to the university’s Techsmith Relay service. More details are available on the Information Services section of staffcentral.

Secondly we will take a step into live broadcasting using Twitter’s Periscope app. Not just for social media celebrities, this app enables you to turn your device into a live steaming setup at the touch of a button. It enables you to broadcast publicly or to create a private session for your selected followers on your Twitter timeline.

Online materials will be available soon…

On Tuesday 19th April the eLearning team will be available at Eastbourne campus. The sessions will involve a relaxed workshop covering the day’s theme, and there will be staff on hand if you just want to pop in with a query.

Session 1: Hillbrow G47: (11-12)
Session 2: Robert Dodd: 201/2 (3-5pm)
