We All Alien by Sam Chara

Inspired by being in the woods Sam Chara has created an outfit and song to then melt them into a video-clip.

Every winter, Sam likes making an outfit to perform in. Sometimes the outfit is inspired by a song but this time the outfit was inspired by a roll of material she was given. The colours of wine-red and brown reminded her of the woods, so she started creating a wood-like creature and a song to go with it. She then created a headpiece to symbolise spiritual sensitivity and growth. The bracelets she added to her creation had leaves which were intended to symbolise sensitivity of touch.

In the woods Sam feels herself more grounded and less lonely than in a city full of people where it is easy to get lost into consumption and materialism while people are rushing around, hiding behind their masks in their own little universe.

Sam believes that, once in the woods, the brain, heart and spirit can breathe and create more space to observe, digest and communicate with all life around her.

Lyrics Song  We All Alien:

In our Cages classified
The heater on and there is light
We all have food
We seem alright
The doctor is called to ease the pain
But the empty feeling still remains
How numb that restless beast inside? 2x
We All Alien
Nature calls
The deed is done
There’s no escape from Babilon
There’s no escape from our desire
There’s no escape from the plastic empire
We All Alien
And every chicken. Sheep and cow
Seem all extinct in the wild by now
Locked up like us within a cage
We’re all alive and pacing around in our own little way.
We All Alien
We just got to hear each other
We just got to see each other
We just got to except each other’s alien ways
