  • During this project, I’ve found it quite strange that even though it has created some sort of routine for me, a set task for each day, I didn’t need to restrict myself with what I was doing. You can see the sky/sunset from almost anywhere. Instead of forcing a photograph, I was no longer in control, I had to take it as it came, whether I was locked away inside, on a car journey or already outside. I received an alert and within a couple minutes had to take a photograph of a subject out of my control. I quite liked this simple way of capturing a scene. I also was quite interested that in a group, many people were often taking pictures from the same location or even building with the same subject matter, and somehow still none of them came out the same.

  • It’s been interesting to see the mundane and boring romanticized from different perspectives of the same thing at the same time. It’s helped create a small routine in my currently very unstructured life. It’s also installed a sense of vastness in me thinking about how people in different places are seeing the same thing you are how we all live under one sky. X

  • During this project I gained a leadership role accidentally making sure our group sent the photos into the group chat. I felt bossy but proud that I was able to find the encouragement even if I was feeling low. Felt odd taken pictures when it came to the time of 17:05 as I felt like my neighbours thought I was being odd or suspicious as where I live the houses are quite close.
  • My family questioned me some days as they forgot why I had an alarm on at that time but also, I would forget, and it would startle me! Overall looking at our collection I’m quite proud that we were able to connect despite us all not been able to during the time of COVID.

  • “This project has shed a light on my own habits during the past two weeks, bringing my awareness to how I have been spending my time. Taking a minute to pause each day at 5.05 and take a photo has disrupted the monotony of my routine and given me a small moment within each day to reflect. It has been a nice anchor within these peculiar times.”

  • I enjoyed this project as I found it wholesome to have a small routine and to see what everyone else in the group was up to each day especially due to the pandemic. It highlighted for me how mundane everyday life feels during lockdown as I personally was always home when 5 o’clock came around and as I’m lazy even though i enjoyed the project I still found it a bit of a chore.

  • What this project made me realize is how fast time flies, if it weren’t for the 5:05pm reminders i wouldn’t even have noticed that most of the day is already gone. It made me pay attention to how i spend my time and be more productive overall.
