Continual feedback (coming soon)

Your feedback is integral to our service. We want you to feel comfortable in telling us where we’re doing well or where we need to improve, and will always communicate back changes made as a result. This information is used to ensure our teams are providing the best possible service and to help us make important decisions. It’s a key part of our wider service aims of a focused, collaborative approach, and ensures we continuously improve our operations.

We’re going to make it even easier to provide feedback across our services. In the coming months we’re going to launch feedback boxes across all of our managed spaces and provide a space online for you to post any comments. Any changes we make to services will be communicated to you across new feedback boards around our service locations.

New student welcome

You said you wanted us to make moving into halls more of an event. Thanks to your feedback, and with help from the Brighton Students’ Union, we created a new moving in Weekend event for 2017/18. The event included music, refreshments and ice cream, as well as an increased staff presence involving student helpers, Accommodation & Hospitality staff and University senior management, who were on site to help with the move in and welcome new students.

Thanks to this hard work, the Halls move in achieved a fantastic 93.4% satisfaction result in the Welcome Survey, and we will use your feedback from this survey to improve the Welcome experience for next year’s cohort.

Bigger and better Student Residential Adviser programme

Our Student Residential Adviser (SRA) programme has been developed further this year, thanks to your feedback. The senior student team have delivered a wider range of events for the Halls community, encouraging social interaction and helping you to build networks.

The aim of our programme is to help you:

  • develop a sense of place and pride
  • improve social cohesion and community spirit
  • build awareness of different cultures and identities
  • create a vision for their halls and environment.

We hope these events help to create a connection between you and your peers, as well as an atmosphere of support and care where you feel part of the wider university and Brighton community.

Clearer guidelines

You said that some of your module assessment guidelines were vague in areas. We have reviewed guidelines across the course to ensure that clearer guidance will be given regarding mark allocation, word count and referencing. This will help you structure your assignments, and give you a better understanding what is expected of you.
