17th July

The summer has turned out to be beautiful this year and yet again we enjoyed a sunny, dry morning. The woodland is alive with butterflies which is why we work so hard to keep the glades as an open space beneath the canopy. Sadly the horse chestnut trees are not so happy and in the glade we worked on this week, there is strong evidence of ash dieback. But how the sycamores flourish! Many volunteers are going to be away from now on so we decided to have a summer break during the first two weeks of August. I shall still be dropping in to check all is well and will keep the blog ticking over.
