The woodland was full of autumnal smells and the sunlight came through the trees at a low angle. Everywhere – in small corners or by the side of pathways – fungi popped up in an amazing variety of shapes and sizes. Although we worked hard to build a sustainable dry pathway on the south side of the wood, we occasionally stopped to comment on the colours changing everywhere. The red berries in the holly bushes seem to suggest the weather will be turning cold soon and the easy dry pathways will change to a more slippery surface.
