Serenity [First Draft] – A copy of the script I wrote as part of this weeks task.

I found myself really enjoying this task as screenplay is one of the areas in film that I would really like to work in. We went through five-finger pitching as part of the lesson which is a brief of the elements: genre, protagonist, goal, obstacle and what is important. This was a good way to break down a new film concept, I worked with Casey and Jack and we all decided on a story based on a ‘morally grey’ situation in which a woman has undergone a lot of abuse from her boyfriend so she kills him.

Though we have all seemingly taken this in different routes. Serenity, and my lead character Elle, is an anxious 17 year-old who was merely defending herself from her boyfriend. Whilst my partners saw this as a a possibly more revenge and escape. I find it interesting how the same base concept can be developed in varying ways. I am happy with this script especially as a first draft and a brief introduction to a character and world with limited dialogue.
