The University of Brighton has plans to follow other institutions in introducing a lecture capture system. This will produce recordings of live lectures that can be made available to students to view at a time of their own choosing.

There are certain legal and contractual issues that need to be agreed with UCU before this can happen, but these are not the only questions that the union is concerned about. As a union of education professionals, we also have an interest in defending the quality of education we are able to provide. The following piece addresses the pedagogical problems associated with lecture capture.
