Tip 8 of the 12 (money saving) Tips of Christmas

Welcome to week 3 of the Student Advice Service’s 12 (money saving) Tips of Christmas

We have been posting daily tips on the Student Advice blog to help you keep on track financially during the lead up to Christmas.

For our 8th tip, we want to share the joy of the element of surprise.

If you are panicking what to get your family or your housemates have just decided to have a Christmas party and Santa has been invited, you don’t have to spend a fortune to wish them well. Lots of households these days opt to have a secret santa whereby you all pick a name out of a hat and just buy for that person. That way, everyone gets one present, which can often be more meaningful as you can think carefully what they might really like or need.

You can agree a budget which everyone has to stick to or better still, you could agree to only buy from charity shops, which means you’re giving something back too.

Safe wishes
