Still waiting to receive your funding? Check your student finance status

Most new and returning students who applied before the guaranteed assessment deadline for this year’s funding should have now received their first instalment of  Maintenance Loan.

If you have been assessed, but you’re still waiting to receive your first payment, you should check your online account for a status update.

When you log in to your online account, the ‘Your finance’ page will show a status next to any payments. Let us explain what they mean……………

Awaiting confirmation this means that  Student Finance is waiting for the university to tell them that you’re enrolled and engaging in the course. This usually happens automatically but sometimes our systems stop talking to each other and things get missed, but don’t worry we can resolve this very easily, so tell us as soon as possible.

If you see the term Awaiting attendance confirmation’next to Tuition Fee loan element, this is perfectly normal and will not affect your  Maintenance  Loan payments. We don’t collect Tuition Fee Loan payments until later in the term so this will  subsequently  change to Paid’in November.  And remember, the Tuition Fee Loan is paid direct to the university, not to you.

Scheduled –this means that Student Finance has all the information they need from you and your loan has been approved for payment.

Payment in progress  payment is on its way. It usually takes up to 3 working days to reach your bank account.

Blocked this usually means that you either need to submit your bank details in order to receive the Maintenance Loan, or your National Insurance number is being verified. It can take up to 2 weeks to check National Insurance numbers.

However, it can also mean that the fee loan has been withheld this academic year due to previous study, so please get in touch if you know that this affects you.

Failed –this means that unfortunately the payment was returned to Student Finance. Please check your bank details urgently.

Paid – this is what everyone wants to read!

If you are still waiting to be assessed because you applied late or through Clearing and you have any questions or concerns, please email the Student Advice team or call us on 01273 642888 (lines are open 10am – 3pm Monday to Friday)

Best wishes
