University Summer Fund for students facing significant financial challenges

The university has some financial provision to help students over the long summer vacation

Who can apply

We welcome applications from full time, continuing, undergraduate students enrolled on standard length courses who are in demonstrable financial hardship due to being unable to work over the holiday.

We are particularly targeting students who

  • have caring responsibilities – for a child, relative, partner or other adult
  • have health issues or are a disabled student
  • are unable to travel home to see family over the long summer vacation due to COVID-19 restrictions
  • have other exceptional circumstances

If you live with a partner, we can only consider an application if your partner is financially dependent on you.

How to apply

If you are a Home or EU student, please contact studentadvice@brighton.ac.uk for more information

If you are an international student, please contact internationaladvice@brighton.ac.uk

We respond to emails very quickly, but please tell us if you would prefer a call back on the phone or via Teams.

Please read the application carefully and be sure to return the completed form with all the documentary evidence we need, which should support your circumstances.

Completed application forms and supporting evidence should be sent to funds@brighton.ac.uk by Friday 3rd July.

Resources are limited and we anticipate a high demand on the fund this year. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee awards, so please apply in plenty of time.

If you have got any other questions about your funding, student finance or anything else, please don’t hesitate to contact us

      Dear Najib

      Thank you for your comment.

All care leavers and estranged students known to university staff were contacted by email at the start of June about the summer fund.
You can apply, but today is the deadline. I will email an application form to your email address, but please complete and return it to the Funds Assessors by midnight tonight.

      Kind regards
      Helen Abrahams
