Student Advice Service – Money Matters

News from the Student Advice Service at the University of Brighton

The Student Advice team extends a warm welcome to all new and continuing students

Most continuing students will have been paid their first instalment of loan and things should be running smoothly for new students.

For new students who enrolled last week, we tell Student Finance once you’re here and this will trigger your first payment of Maintenance Loan paid into your chosen bank account. This can take 5 working days after you’ve enrolled in person, so don’t panic if you’re still waiting.

The Tuition Fee Loan won’t be due until later in the term and this is paid direct to the university.

If you have any money questions – about your student finance payment, entitlement, planning a budget, eligibility for Bursaries or other applied to university funds, DWP benefits eg Universal Credit, how to save on travel costs or choosing a bank account, just ask a Student Adviser. No question is too basic or too complicated and we recommend you seek the right answer from the experts.

Advisers are available at each campus and we offer a drop in service or pre-booked appointments. We are also open for 2 evenings a week between 5pm – 7pm at Falmer and Grand Parade.
