Make a note in the diary – National Student Money Week is happening next week

The Student Advice Service is taking part in National Student Money Week next week (11th – 15th Feb)

But what does that actually mean for students?

What is National Student Money Week?

It is a national week-long campaign which many universities get involved with to get students talking and thinking about all things money, from checking their student finance interest rate to claiming Universal Credit.

We use this opportunity to promote ourselves, the Student Advisers, to students and staff who either haven’t heard of us or what we do.

We have a roadshow at each campus where you can come and ask us a question, take part in one of our activities or give us a suggestion on how we can better support you with managing your money.

We will also have an online presence all week via the Money Matters blog (ie here!) so don’t worry if you can’t make it to one of the stalls.

There is usually a national theme and this year’s theme is ‘Breaking Bad Habits’.

Why should I get involved?

You might be a first year or final year, undergraduate or studying for a PhD, 18 or 80, money savvy or money overwhelmed – whoever you are, you’ve got something positive to share with us and likewise, we have got something positive to share with you.

We boast a wealth of top tips between us which we’re champing at the bit to share with you.

Oh, and, spoiler alert……..lights, camera, action!

We’re also going to be filming during the week, so if you’re a budding YouTube sensation with some top money tips or great advice for new and prospective students, we want you in front of camera!

Where will the pop up information stalls be?

Monday 11th February – Moulsecoomb campus, outside Aldrich library, 11.30am – 2pm

Monday 11th February – Eastbourne campus, Sprinters café, 11.30am – 2pm

Tuesday 12th February – Falmer campus, outside Westlain canteen, 11.30am – 2pm

Thursday 14th February – Hastings campus, Priory Square Lounge, 11.30am – 2pm

Friday 15th February – City Campus, outside Sallis Benney theatre main Grand Parade building, 11.30am – 2pm

See you there!
