Are you a first year undergraduate EU student receiving a Tuition Fee Loan? You may be eligible for a bursary

All first year EU students receiving a Tuition Fee Loan can be considered for a University of Brighton bursary as long as they fulfil the standard eligibility criteria. The amount you could receive is up to £2000 which is not a loan. This is payable in the first year of study only but it is available to full and part time EU students.

If you are in your first year of university study and you (or in most cases, your parents) have a low household income less than your currency equivalent of £25,000 per year (before tax), you should make an application. You can find a helpful currency converter here: https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/

You still have a little bit of time to apply for the bursary as the deadline for the University is Friday 8th June, but before this date you need to contact the EU team at Student Finance England and ask them to send you a EU17b form. You should complete this as soon as possible and if you are under 25 and/or financially dependent on your parents, the form needs to go to them to complete and you should return it to the EU team at Student Finance England to be assessed urgently. Their number is 0141 243 3570 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm). They assess your income details and then tell us so we can then allocate the bursaries. However, this all needs to happen by 8th June so you need to act quickly.

Your parents will need to send in copies of their financial details which cover April 2015 – April 2016 which is the tax year in the UK, but for most EU countries as the tax year is January to December, they will most likely need to send 2 years of their records from January 2015 – December 2015 and January 2016 – December 2016.
