University funds to help students who are unable to seek paid work over the summer

The University operates a financial scheme for students who are unable to work for all or part of the long summer vacation.

Who can apply?

Full time, continuing, undergraduate, non NHS funded home students who are experiencing financial problems and who additionally fulfil one or more of the following criteria:

• Caring responsibilities – for a child, relative, partner or other adult.
• Ill-health, disability or undergoing medical treatment which may affect your ability to seek remunerative work.
• Taking re-sits or repeats, or have extensions.
• Undertaking unpaid placement.
• Care Leavers/estranged students/no family contact who may not have a home to return to over the summer.
• Exceptional unforeseen circumstances (not covered by the above).

Please note that Postgraduates, Nursing and Midwifery students cannot apply as they can still apply for Student Support Fund until 24th and 30th June respectively.

N.B. If you are awaiting the outcome of an exam board and believe you may have to re-sit an exam, we would advise you to submit an application for the Summer Hardship Fund now or contact the Funds Team on 01273 642869 to discuss.

You have until 8th July to make an application
