Student Advice Service – Money Matters

News from the Student Advice Service at the University of Brighton

Well that’s Money Week done and dusted for 2016….now the real work starts

Money Week Eastbourne 2016

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Money Week stands this week, it was great to get so many really useful (and interesting!) tips which we shall be sharing with students shortly, along with the results of the national Students, Money and Mental Health Questionnaire, which we circulated amongst Brighton students.

We engaged with around 200 students at the information stands who cleaned up all the goodies, and hopefully many more got some sound advice from the daily money blogs: .

We’ve contacted our ‘How to de-stress for £less’ winners who will all receive a small money/wellbeing related prize. We had lots of suggestions that centered around exercise, walking along the beach, having a bath and chatting with friends/family (not necessarily at the same time), but here are our favourites – in no particluar order:
1. “Don’t overthink; instead breathe deeply and think of positive thoughts”
2. “De-clutter your bookshelves (sell some?), cherish the ones you keep and maybe re-read them”
3. “Knitting, listening to music and in the morning watch a motivational video”
4. “Write a list and put things in perspective”
5. “Wait till dark and count the stars”

Our financial and wellbeing advice for students doesn’t end there, the Student Advice Service is open all year round and the Student Advisers are here to help with all your money worries.
Don’t stress about money on your own, come and talk to someone and share the load. Follow this link for our full contact details: http://bit.ly/ContactSAS
