We expect to conduct in-person interviews for shortlisted candidates in the week commencing 29th April. Online interviews will be held for Eastbourne-based students during the week commencing 6th May. We aim to notify successful candidates of interview details by 25th April. We try to ensure that our interview process is as accessible and inclusive as possible. If you are invited to interview and there are reasonable adjustments we can make to ensure you can access the interview process fairly, please send us an email with details as soon as possible.

SRO Ambassador job description
Shortlisting and feedback:
We receive a high number of applications and shortlist based on a number of factors, and therefore are unable to provide detailed feedback if you are not shortlisted for interview.
Applicants are selected for interview based on:
- The quality of your application, and how well it demonstrates a wide range of the essential and desirable skills and experience we are looking for (see job description). Applications are scored anonymously and fairly against these criteria. Many of our Student Ambassadors are first year students; communication and teamwork skills are far more important than your employment history, but it is vital that you show this on your application if you want to be shortlisted!
- Our need to represent the diversity of the student body, and the prospective students we work with. For example we may need more students in certain subject or geographical areas, part time or mature students, international or ‘home’ students, etc – so these factors will be considered in addition to an already excellent application.
If you are unsuccessful in applying for the role of SRO Ambassador, we know that this is disappointing – unfortunately we can’t hire everyone that applies! We hope that you will still have found the practice at applications/interviews valuable for your future job applications – in the meantime you may still be able to work for us at open days as a Student Helper (see further information here), or you may also find other Student Ambassador roles elsewhere in the University, and you are very welcome to re-apply next time we recruit (submit your details here to be notified next time we recruit).
Interviews and Training
In order to apply for the role of SRO Student Ambassador you must be able to attend an interview (if you are shortlisted) and training (if you are successful after interview). If you are unable to attend, you will need to re-apply for the role next time we recruit, as we cannot run interviews/training for individuals. If you find that you have university lectures or placements that clash with ALL of the interview or ALL of the training dates, please let us know, as we may be unaware that students from your subject cannot attend and if so will try to find another date.
Interviews are usually conducted on the Moulsecoomb campus and consist of a group presentation activity and individual interview. Successful applicants are also asked to complete a short task consisting of a blog/video post. If you are invited to interview and have a disability, and there are reasonable adjustments we can make to this process, please let us know by email when you book your interview slot.
Training: Candidates who are successful in interview will be required to take part in mandatory training before becoming an SRO Student Ambassador. Further information will be sent to you if you are offered the role.
