These webpages tell the story, through photographs, news clips, narrative and other sources, of the University of Brighton’s successful hosting of the Springbok team at the 2015 Rugby World Cup. The partners in this venture were Eastbourne College, who provided the outdoor training facilities, and the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne.
The project was an example of co-operation between different departments within the University (the School of Sport and Service Management and Sport Brighton) and partnership with organisations/agencies within the local community (Eastbourne College, The Grand Hotel, Eastbourne Borough Council). We aimed to maximise the opportunity, and both the tangible and indirect benefits to the University and the local community were apparent to those involved at every level. By accessing the various pages you will be able to gain an insight into the economic and social engagement activities that took place before and during the Springbok’s visit to Eastbourne and understand the legacy it brings.
