Meetings

Meeting 1 – 09/04/18

Paired up for Opposites Attract and began initial ideas for the project including:  common interests related to decision-making and human factors

Output ideas:  journal article and a blog

Meeting 2 – 13/04/2018

Principles of project management to be embedded into the opposites attract collaboration

  • Documentation of process of the project – using the blog to capture ideas, changes and how we went about activities
  • Clearly defined goals and objectives that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, timely
  • End output identified that will have potential benefits and future impact for both people in the project

Goals for the end outputs of the project to be submitted and presented at PG Research conference:

  1. Journal article – literature review about risk, decision-making and human factors
  2. Proposal for a future research project based on the framework developed from the literature review
  3. Blog

Meeting 3 – 20/04/18

Streamlining the focus of the journal article to ‘Business models’ and ‘Healthcare’

Identified some articles, books and websites that are useful to the project

Meeting 4 – 26/04/18

Narrowed the aim of the article down even more to focus on the “S” of the Triple Bottom Line business model and specifically the social well-being of healthcare staff.

Identified potential ways that group social activities could promote job satisfaction and staff well-being in the healthcare sector.

Planned out key terms for literature searching to be compared at next meeting.

Meeting 5 – 04/05/18

Shared initial writing ideas and articles/websites found since the last meeting.  Focused the article planning down even more and discussed logistics of the article structure and content to be:

  • Introduction to rationalise the importance of addressing the social aspect of the triple bottom line model in the healthcare sector.
  • Review of literature about actions to achieve healthcare staff well-being and job satisfaction.
  • Discussion on how to conduct a social audit within healthcare to evaluate if social goal targets for staff have been met.

Before next meeting, we will each write a 500-word summary to compare ideas, writing styles and see where similarities and differences are.

Meeting 6 – 11/05/18

Each of us brought some draft writing introducing the topic and bringing together key concepts and publications.  Recognised where similarities and differences were to make a plan to complete the article writing.

  • Introduction – Heather to piece together writing brought today and edit into the introduction to ensure writing style flows well and avoids overlap (750 words)
  • Main Section 1 – Review of literature about actions to achieve healthcare staff well-being and job satisfaction – Heather to draft this (750-1000 words)
  • Main Section 2 – Discussion on how to conduct a social audit within healthcare to evaluate if social goal targets for staff have been met – Akinyo to draft this (750-1000 words)
  • Conclusion – will be written later on after the main essay done (300-500 words)

Meeting 7 – 23/05/18

Compared each of our article writing and ideas to finish the article including a table (Heather’s section) and diagram (Akinyo’s section).  Need to update some of the references in the introduction still but that can be done later on.  Started initial plans for the oral presentation (10 minutes, use PowerPoint but minimal slides to keep as a focused summary) – need to review guidance for Opposites Attract and criteria used for the evaluation.

Actions:

  • Akinyo to finish his section and send to Heather
  • Heather to finish her section and link up the parts of the article to be emailed back (will review the whole article with each other at the next meeting)
  • Heather to contact conference organisers to find out time of presentation and logistics for submission of the project
  • Use project evaluation guidance and criteria to finish PowerPoint presentation at the next meeting
