Joe Duggan is an artist who lives and works in Limerick and London . I am particularly interested in his series of images which portray him as a family man but his family are made up of mannequins. I think the use of mannequins gives the images an eerie and unnatural quality, sort of robotic. The fakeness of the mannequins combined with warm family imagery is striking and appeals to the concept of my first test shoot. It relates to feelings of nostalgia, nostalgia sees us recall memories as better and sweeter than they are so its an imitation of memory like the mannequins are imitations of people, the photos are imitations of real, warm family life. Therefore the images below are good reference for my project.
