WILLIAM BOUGUEREAU

realism 1800s-1900s

Bougereau’s work was made far past the renaissance era, but reflects such similar aspects to its previous paintings that it is a necessity to show how it was modernised even then. Now studying his work closely, i want to take 3 images of his and reflect specific elements within the paintings in my own editorials. The colours, fabrics, the posing or the lighting can be established effectively in fashion photography and this way, it is modernising the renaissance to fit within youth culture or just my generation completely.

Again, similar colours are used throughout these paintings. I also like how unless you are familiar with mythology or the real narratives of the paintings, you would guess the meaning wrong. However, the meaning would stay creative. I could use this in the posing of the models in my photography, possibly having them sit, stand or lay in similar angelic ways to portray a certain story.
