Exploring the City

Tired of being stuck in my uni flat all day, I decided to venture out into the city to find inspiration for my “sense of place” photography brief. Riding on the top of an empty double decker bus was a great way to warm up and view the passing city from a higher than standing viewpoint.

I wanted to take some shots from my POV, showing that in spite of the cheerful sunny weather and range of colours on the bus, it was still lifeless and isolated being alone on the top floor.

After getting of the bus, I took a walk around the streets to see what I could find. I found inspiration in the colourful graffiti sprayed all other Brighton’s streets, adding eye-catching colours to what could normally be lifeless and boring walls.

The street art on Oxford Street in particular, really caught my attention. Although the work looked amazing on its own, I couldn’t help but wonder how complimenting it would look as a backdrop for some portrait shots.
