Students cross finish line at Silverstone

Our Brighton Racing Motors team placed in the top 20 of an international contest at Silverstone to mark the culmination of a year spent designing and building a racing car.

The team, made up of engineering undergraduate students  participated in the IMechE Formula Student competition at the world-renowned race circuit.

After progressing through five days of ‘scrutineering’ and testing, Brighton Racing Motors were selected to take part in the prestigious Endurance race – a first for the University.

Around 140 teams from around the world signed up to enter the race, only 81 made it to Silverstone with a completed car, and just 25 made it to the final event.

Racing car makes rooftop debut

A racing car built by engineering students and destined to race at Silverstone this summer has been unveiled on the site of the University of Brighton’s soon to open new car and bike parking facility at its Moulsecoomb campus.

The car has been designed and built from scratch by Brighton Racing Motors, a team of undergraduate students from the University’s School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics and will compete in this year’s Formula Student event at Silverstone, the home of British motor racing. Read More

Brighton Racing Motors students kitted out by Gresham Blake

Members of our Formula Student team, Brighton Racing Motors, have turned their hands to fashion by collaborating with Brighton alumnus Gresham Blake.

The students will wear bespoke shirts made by Blake’s company when they race the car they have designed and built at Silverstone circuit as part of the Formula Student competition from July 17 to 21.
