Tii News: submit.ac.uk now turnitinuk.com

Turnitin have updated their main web address to be http://www.turnitinuk.com/. This was prompted by the .ac.uk domain type as a designation for academic institutions and Turnitin, as a commercial enterprise, should have a .com domain type. The ac.uk domain was a remnant of JISCs initial involvement in hosting Turnitin for UK educational institutions. This change will not affect your use of Turnitin through studentcentral. If you use the TurnitinUK iPad app at present it still says submit.ac.uk on the initial setup page, but it will automatically redirect the app and obtain your submission points through your existing Turnitin account as expected. For users of the iPad app we advise that you continue to add submission points using the ‘login with an access code’ method as outlined on the following IS guidance page: http://staff.brighton.ac.uk/is/learningandteaching/Pages/Turnitin/Turnitin-Downloading-the-Turnitin-App-for-iPad.aspx

I have been working in the Educational Technology field within Higher Education for eleven years. A big part of my job is finding new and innovative ways of integrating technology into current teaching and learning methodology. This can include assisting academic staff with Virtual Learning Environments/Learning Management Systems (Blackboard), implementing specific software packages, maximising current technologies and championing new ones. I find this profession both riveting and rewarding. I really enjoy life on the cutting edge, but I also enjoy being able to help staff achieve small and meaningful efficiencies; sometimes that makes all the difference.
