Incredible placement opportunities for our Education BA students

Our Education BA continues to offer students a wide variety of enriching placement opportunities to develop key skills and enjoy unmissable experiences.

The School of Education staff team are committed to ensuring that each student has the freedom to pursue their individual interests and passions whilst choosing a personalised placement that benefits their learning.

Previously, our students have benefited from placement settings including an International School in Finland, the Police force, Vallaler Educational Trust in India (VET) and Brighton’s very own Students’ Union.

Two of our Education BA students are currently experiencing the placement of a lifetime in Nepal. Over six weeks, Jamie Obispo and Shannon Reed are teaching English in a secondary school just outside Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital. As well as enjoying the beautiful scenery and Nepalese culture, both students have commented on how the opportunity has benefited their education and experience, with the help of their tutors.

“It is now my second week in Nepal and it has been even better than I had anticipated.
My tutors have been extremely helpful and supportive throughout the placement application process and I felt very prepared before arriving in Nepal”. – Jamie Obispo

“The placement opportunities are brilliant on the BA Education course as the course allows you to consider you own path and pick where you want to go. As long as you can complete the paperwork and justify your interest you are free to go where you please, which is a really nice feeling and allows the course to feel unique to each student.”

My tutors helped a great deal to ensure all paperwork and risk assessments were complete in order for myself and Jamie to come here safely and so that we would be able to get the most from the opportunity.” – Shannon Reed

Shannon and Jamie are also hoping to visiting the Malagiri school while they are in Nepal – the school was built with the support of staff and students at the School of Education and they continue to fundraise to keep it open.
