Meet the School of Education Titans

The  School of Education has been the launchpad for thousands of exceptional teachers for over 100 years. To celebrate a new campaign called ‘Brighton’s Titans’, we thought we would highlight just a few of our great alumni who have gone on to become first-class educators.

Stephen Feeney found our PGCE Primary Education course an excellent preparation for working as a teacher and graduated in 2012. “The PGCE at Brighton is definitely a celebration of what teaching can do for you as a person,” he says. “Yes, it fully equips you for the stresses and strains that come with the profession, but it also enriches you with the knowledge that you are going to be working in a job that allows you to be silly, fun and a great role model to the children you teach. I felt so ready and excited to become a teacher by the time I had finished the course.”

He’s not  the only graduate who feels this way.  Since graduating in 2011 from our Teaching Programme Tim Holtam has gone on to set up Brighton Table Tennis Club as well as be named ‘Coach of the Year’. He says: “Brighton gave me a teacher training qualification par excellence.”

“The University of Brighton made me into a teacher,” says Hannah Wallace, who graduated in 2011 with a PGCE in Information Communication Technology and is now a Programme Area Manager. Hannah deeply appreciated the real-world preparation she received at Brighton. “The range of workshops and lectures were excellent and exposed us to a range of scenarios and situations that we may face during our teaching careers and equipped us with the foundation for coping with these challenges.”
