Get up to £30,000 tax-free to Train to Teach a STEM subject

Good teachers are always in demand but STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects at secondary level are particular priorities and attract additional support and higher levels of funding.

Design and TechnologyThe teaching profession is a great way to make your degree, skills and knowledge really count, and right now tax-free bursaries and scholarships worth up to £30,000 are being offered to top graduates who choose to train as teachers.

The University of Brighton Initial Teacher Training Partnership is rated outstanding by Ofsted.  We work closely with our partner schools to offer a wide range of routes into teaching (PGCE, School Direct Training and School Direct Salaried).  We offer individualised support to build on your expertise to develop your capabilities to become an outstanding practitioner.

If you are considering a career in teaching our courses are perfect for anyone who has graduated with an honours degree or equivalent, in a subject relevant to the specialism.  For those who may require additional support we also offer subject knowledge enhancement routes (SKE) which can be taken prior to commencement of the course.

We offer courses in the following STEM subject areas:

Biology
Chemistry
Design and Technology
Geography
Mathematics
Physics
Physics with Mathematics

Studying with us, you will have access to excellent resources and gain practical experience in two of around 250 partner schools. You will be mentored by a successful teaching team with an outstanding national reputation and comprehensive research profile that informs course content.

Specialising in a STEM subject at postgraduate level means that you will be able to take a role in the leadership and development of this subject area throughout your career.

Good teachers are in demand and there are excellent employment prospects. Once you qualify you would start on a salary of at least £22,000 per annum (£27,000 in London) and you could progress to earn up to £65,000 as a great teacher.
