iCompute 2014

In September, the subject of computing will be introduced as part of the new national curriculum; last month the School of Education brought together eight local teachers and all of our final year undergraduate trainees for the iCompute 2014 event.

Teachers gave stimulating presentations on a range of themes relating to computational thinking and digital literacy and these were followed by hands-on teacher-led workshops exploring programming and other aspects of the programme of study for computing.

An inspiring keynote presentation from Stephen Lockyer, Deputy Head at the Meads School in Tunbridge Welprogramming imagels, closed the event.

The day aimed to help equip these soon-to-be-NQTs with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to teach computing creatively and effectively. We very much expect that they will go on to play a key role in shaping the teaching of computing in their future schools. More about this event.
