Now in its third year, the Little Rebel’s Children’s Book Award recognises outstanding radical fiction for children aged 0-12. ‘Radical’ is defined widely to include books informed by inclusive/anti-discriminatory concerns or those which promote social equality or social justice. There are 8 books on the shortlist this year:

(I Love Mel) (ages 4-7)

Nadine Dreams of Home by Bernard Ashley
(Barrington Stoke) (ages 7+)

Scarlet Ibis by Gill Lewis
(Oxford University Press) (ages 9-12)

Trouble on Cable Street by Joan Lingard
(Catnip Books) (ages 9-12)

Girl With a White Dog by Anne Booth (Catnip Books) ages (9-12)
