Real-world learning on Willingdon School project site visit

As part of their Construction Project Management module coursework, BSc Construction Management, Project Management for Construction and Civil Engineering with Construction Management second year students visited the Willingdon School project which is the basis of their coursework this year.

The project consists of several phases, some new build, some extension work and some refurbishment work, all works have to be carried out whilst the school, which has over 1000 pupils, is still operational.  This creates and interesting challenge and the students are looking at ways that they would manage the project in the most effective way.

The visit allowed the students to gain a better understanding if the scope of work and logistics of the project, which will help them when carrying out their coursework.  As well as being shown around the site by the Morgan Sindall team, the students were also able to meet with the project manager who gave them an in depth understanding of the project and the constraints they need to consider.
