It was a pleasure to welcome potential students and their families to the University of Brighton, Moulsecoomb Campus Open Day on 18 June. And it was wonderful to hear about individual experiences leading up to the point at which studying a construction/built environment course at university became an option.
Visitors met lots of current students and staff whilst experiencing taster lectures and touring the university facilities. Activities visitors can get involved with on days like this include a challenge to build a two-storey building using spaghetti and marshmallows! Once built they are weighed to determine the quantity of materials used in construction before being loaded with mars bars and subjected to earthquake simulation. The winning building is the one still standing with the most mars bars in it!
There was also plenty of time to speak to students about their personal experiences at the university and ask any burning questions about accommodation, finance and studying at Brighton.
