Getting started

Editors and Approvers

The CMS is set up to assign different access rights to different people as appropriate and agreed by managers. There are four user types:

  • access – downloading reports
  • editors – editing but not approving pages
  • approvers – editing and approving rights
  • admins – access all areas.

If you have issues with your access permissions please discuss this with your manager.

Logging on and off

To use the CMS visit: https://cms-brighton-uni.cloud.contensis.com in your browser. This will bring you to the CMS log-in screen.  You do not need to enter any details at this stage, instead simply click the light grey box at the top marked “Sign in with AD FS”.

CMS log-in page

This may then lead you to the university log-in screen depending on whether you are already logged into university systems or not.

You can log on with your university details but everyone needs to have been added to the CMS before they can log on. The web team can make this happen but it can take several hours, sometimes overnight, to take effect.

There is no need to log out as Contensis will automatically log you out after a period of inactivity. However, if you are advised to log out at any time, click on your name at the top right and a drop down menu will appear giving you a Log Out option.

Click the Contensis logo at the top left to return to the CMS home page at any time.

Once you have logged on you may think there is a lot going on on the CMS home page but don’t be alarmed, initially there are just two areas you need to look at:

  • Website site files and folders.

Website folders and files

  • My To-Dos, this contain any files that you are currently working on.

Archived pages

Some files are archived when they are no longer in use, which means you can’t see them unless you request them to be visible. Click on the website folder and select Show Archived Content. To Hide them simply do the same again and select Hide Archived Content.

Selecting to show archived content

You can now start to edit a page.

Changing your password

As you log-in to the CMS using your university credentials, if you wish to change your CMS password you will have to change your university password via the normal method; you cannot have a separate university and CMS password.  Sorry.
