Lots of employability skills developed through each degree

Skills globe

You can be confident in the knowledge that you develop many different employability skills throughout your degree, for example verbal and written communication, teamwork, IT and problem solving to name just a few. These are skills which employers value, and skills you can transfer to a work environment. Sometimes coming up with a list on your own is tricky. Check your course handbook as these are often listed here, also here is a VERY handy web link below.  In here, you can find your degree subject, and in each subject statement, there is an invaluable section of subject specific skills and transferrable skills you gain from your degree in one concise list!

This web link is the QAA Benchmark Statement for your degree subject specialism. QAA is about university courses quality assurance standards, and all undergraduate and post graduate degrees must build their courses around them. You don’t need to read the whole document either, just find the section Subject specific skills and other skills in the index. Copy and keep these lists as they can prove invaluable for providing you with examples of skills you have developed in a more formal CV speak way. You can use these as ‘evidence’ in job applications to answer person specifications and to provide content on your CV!

Find your degree subject here.
