We currently have 16 primary, 18 secondary and two ‘all-through’ academies, with a number of new academies planned for September 2016 and 2017. Two thirds of our inspected academies are rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, with the remaining third judged ‘Good’.

Each Harris Academy is led and run by its Principal and Senior Leadership team, with their own individual approach to the curriculum and unique way of doing things. But all our Academies are committed to giving their young people an excellent education within a happy, caring and supportive environment. And because our Academies are all located within easy reach of one another, we can share resources and work together, with on-call support from the Harris Federation.

When joining a Harris Academy as an NQT, you will follow our highly successful Harris Federation NQT programme, training alongside other NQTs from across the Federation. This means as an aspiring teacher, you support and learn from one another, in the true collaborative spirit of Harris.

Our induction programme aims to welcome new teachers and build self-confidence in the first few weeks of your career. You will have regular contact with other NQTs within and across subject areas, including at our NQT Teaching and Learning conference each October.

We give you a structure of support and challenge with customised professional learning sessions throughout the year. Each of our NQTs has a professional mentor, who will work with you to make sure your training and support needs are met and to make sure you have the opportunity to observe lessons by experienced teachers.

The NQT programme follows on from initial teacher training by inducting you into your own classrooms and specific subjects. The Harris Federation offers personalised support to help you build confidence and strengthen your teaching practice.
