The FuseBox: Looking for IoT and data collaborators

Digital Catapult Centre

Hopefully by now you’ve been to The FuseBox for a past event. But for those, yet to visit, we are largely an open plan studio space nestled amongst a whole host of diverse and illustrious tenants inside New England House, Brighton.

The FuseBox with the help of Recreate (A European project to support creativity by regenerating disused spaced) was created by Wired Sussex to provide a space that offered workspace and support to the CDIT Sector to Brighton and local areas. The building of The FuseBox was inspired by the Brighton Fuse research project to create a collaborative work space to facilitate the integration of creative and digital practices within business.

In the past two and a half years The FuseBox been a working studio. We’ve hosted a wide range of activities – from large city shaping data hackathons to craft markets – to support our creative neighbours in New England House. Most notably last year we ran the first cohort of FuseBox24. A radical programme that provides 24 weeks of start-up support for committed innovators. Read the FuseBox24 research report to discover the findings.

This year, Wired Sussex alongside Coast to Capital (C2C) Local Economic Partnership (LEP), University of Brighton, University of Sussex, Brighton & Hove City CouncilAmerican Express and Gatwick Airport became a key partner in The Digital Catapult Centre Brighton. The centre has been designed specifically to support projects that encourage innovation and value from real-time and location-based data – known as the Internet of Place and has taken up residency within The FuseBox.

Whilst The FuseBox is housing The Digital Catapult Centre Brighton, we are looking to build a community back up here in The FuseBox and we are currently searching for people who need space to work and share connected ideas with each other. We are looking for individuals and companies interested in IoT and data to hopefully feed into and benefit from programmes of The Digital Catapult Centre Brighton.

The emphasis on the Catapult Centre is collaborative and we want to have a studio culture to reflect that. If you are interested in flexible work space and think that this might be for you, please drop Hub and Events Coordinator Rosalie Hoskins a line 01273 692888 or via Rosalie@wiredsussex.com. We would love to hear about who you are, and what ideas you’re currently working on to see if we might be a good match for each other.

**Thank you to Rosalie Hoskins from Wired Sussex for this guest post**.
