Email Marketing Analysis

As we can see from this screengrab from my email, every week I receieve an email from Amazon about my recent purhcase of the ‘Amazon Echo’. They discuss every week about what is new with the echo and new games and activities I can do with my echo. This is a great way as a comany to get your consumers to interact with the products they have recently purhcased. Being on the recieving end of this email, I can see a high use of personalisation to get myself to interact with my echo as I feel like I am the only one recieving the email.

This is a great use of email marketing due to the fact that as I am interacting with my new product, I am beginning to realise how effective this product is and as a result it will make me want to branch out and use more of the current products that this company has to offer.

The use of tick boxes and interaction tools they use in their emails proves that they use email to target their customers and use this to gain a deeper understanding about whether people inteact with these emails, or if they bounce click etc.

As well as the interaction tools, we can see this section at the bottom of the email, the purpose of this is to get the customers to branch out of their comfort zone. Here they have tried to get me, as a customer, to use Youtube as another tool for finding out how to use my product effectively. This is the company trying to maintain a higher portion of the market share so that they can continue to proilferate. However, as this is such a huge company already it is apparent that they are doing well as a comapany and will continue to grow if they use these tools to communicate with their stakeholders.

Individual Blog – Reflection

In this piece of work, it will include a reflective style of writing based on the Digital Marketing coursework of analysing a growing company’s online presence. Our task was to create a 15-minute group presentation analysing a companies use of website and other platforms to communicate their online value proposition. As well as this, we had to clearly communicate how the company can progress in the future.

Initially we began to browse companies to choose a company which was interesting and suitable for the current market. We chose to use Airbnb as our company as it is relevant to our generation as it uses modern advancements in technology to make a cheap and reliable service for its customers to use.

We decided to split the presentation into four sections, the sections which was assigned to myself was; Online Value Proposition (Online Value Proposition | Smart Insights), Social Media & Digital Channels and Analysis of Website. To begin with, a definition of online value proposition was needed to communicate what Airbnb online value proposition is. Following this definition, it would be suitable to use their online value proposition to analyse the forthcoming tasks. After research, it was clear to see that Airbnb had a great online social presence due to their use of applications and ease of use of these tools. This part of the group presentation is essential to the rest of the presentation as it is significant to use the online value proposition to base the rest of the analysis.

Working in groups was a successful way to tackle this assignment as the clear delegation of tasks allowed us to communicate well and gage a deeper understanding of Airbnb as a whole. The team worked well together as when situations arose we communicated well and helped each other to achieve the tasks and goals we set. For example, we used deadlines for segments of the presentation so that it seems more organised, this well-structured outlook would give us more confidence with our presentation as more time would’ve been put into the quality of the work.

By completing this assignment, it stretched our skills as it allowed us to explore areas we were not fully comfortable with. For example, SWOT and PEST (PESTLE Analysis, 2016) analysis was something as a group we were not familiar with, however after extensive research we concluded what this terminology meant and used this successfully when relating to Airbnb. For us to create a higher piece of work, it could be suggestible to divide the tasks into more even segments as a lot of time was spent on areas of discomfort, so if we divided in a more equal manor, more time could’ve gone into the presentation of the document, making it a more successful, professional and smooth presentation.

JD Sports – Website Review

JD Sports Website:

Review of Home Page Elements:

As we can see from the home page, there is a prominant bright colour scheme. The purpose of this is to attract its targetted age group (teenagers). The site seems easy to navagate with many drop down headings, making the website easy to use for its audience. As well as this, the text seems to be very large, once again, assuming this is for its targetted audience purpose. Finally, it is apparent that the company logo is positioned at the top left of the page, giving this website a professional look it needs.

Evaluating Web Site Color Schemes:

The colour scheme seems to be one of black and red, furthermore giving the webiste a ‘jump out the page’ look. I believe that the colour scheme matches its products and fits with the services offered as it is a sport website, giving a lively and excited mood. The colour scheme is consistent throughout the website and is well designed with the text.

Evaluating Navigational Elements:

This company has done well with its navigation elements as they have easy to use drop down tabs to easily navigate through the different categories in the webiste. It is also using marketting very well as the word ‘SALE’ is large and in bright colours to provoke its audience to navigate through its website and potentially buy more products. This is effective as it allows the company to make more sales, increasing its total revenue, and allowing the company to develop. The only critisism of this website is that it has a very obvious specified audience and if they want to continue to grow, they will need to change its professional outlook, to allow more audiences to be atrracted by its products.
