Jeanette Ashton, Client Interviewing skills lead, and Richard Lang had the great pleasure of seeing Jane Cleasby and Arllen Orias, both CPE post-graduate law students, win the London and South-East regional Client Interviewing competition 16 February, seeing off competition from 11 other universities including UCL, Essex, Sussex, UEA and Kent. UCL and Royal Holloway finished second and third, with all 3 going on to compete in the Law Society sponsored national final in Bristol in March. Congratulations to Jane and Arllen, their hard work preparing really paid off and we hope they will do well in the next stage.
Both said how much they’d enjoyed the experience, with Jane commenting: ‘The client interviewing competition has provided a great opportunity to develop a new set of skills. Going from being pretty clueless about how to do an interview in September to placing 1st in the regional competition feels brilliant’ and Arllen “Client interviewing has been a real highlight of my time at Brighton so far. Although the competition is a little nerve-wracking, I’ve really enjoyed learning about “Theft” and getting an insight into the types of considerations practitioners have to make on an everyday basis.”
