Business School lecturer wins inaugural award for social marketing paper

The Business School is proud to announce that one of our principal lecturers, Matthew Wood has won an award from the Australian Association of Social Marketing (AASM) for an article published in the Journal of Social Marketing. The committee deemed Matt’s article, Marketing Social Marketing to have had the most impact on the discipline of social marketing.

Marketing Social Marketing has been downloaded over 21,000 times since 2012 when it was first published in Volume 2, Issue 2 of the Journal of Social Marketing. Wood’s paper critically evaluates the state of social marketing and argues social marketing is failing to position itself effectively. The paper discusses the history of social marketing before exploring the issues currently affecting social marketing and why it’s a cause for concern.

Matthew Wood is a principal lecturer in Marketing with Brighton Business School and Course Leader for the PgCert in Social Marketing. He has extensive commercial and social marketing research experience and often runs social marketing training courses for public health professionals.
