Legal Client Interviewing Competition

Competition judges John Searby and Gerard Maye

Now more than ever, legal students need inter-personal skills as well as knowledge of the law in order to be successful. The University of Brighton’s annual Legal Client Interviewing Competition seeks to address this need by developing the skills necessary for effective interviewing.

The competition is sponsored by Gerard Maye Legal.

Working in pairs, competitors take on the role of solicitors advising their clients. The 2013 teams were judged by two industry professionals: Defence Solicitor, Gerard Maye and Civil Litigator, John Searby both from Gerard Maye Legal.

Competition winners Emily Titman and Rachel Braithwaite

Congratulations to the winning pair of Law with Business LLB students, Emily Titman and Rachel Braitwaite, who were rewarded with book tokens and the opportunity to complete a work placement with Gerard Maye Legal. They will also represent the University of Brighton at The Law Society’s National Client Interviewing Competition.

Runners up were Jordan Powell and Dan Chapman, both Postgraduate Diploma in Law (CPE) students.
