Meet Brighton’s Titans (School of Sport and Service Management)

Over the years, Brighton’s School of Sport and Service Management has been a launching pad for thousands of students embarking on a wide range of careers. As part of the Brighton’s Titans campaign, we’re proud to spotlight a few of our notable graduates, who have shared some of their experiences studying with us.

One of our graduates, Vishal Gadhavi (International Tourism Management BA(Hons) 2008), has gone on to become a successful actor and TV reporter. Studying at Brighton played a major role in his subsequent success. “It’s fair to say that I gained an incredible amount from my time at Brighton,” he says. “The knowledge I gained from my degree was second to none, but the life experience it taught me is something I will never forget.”

This thought is echoed by Carmen Nibigira, who graduated in 2005 with a degree in Travel Management and is now Regional Coordinator of the East Africa Tourism Platform. To her, Brighton provided “a great foundation for my academic and professional career”. She especially valued the “international community of students and professors who made our academic experience so practical and relevant”.

Greg Rose used his 2008 degree in Sports Journalism as the first step on a meteoric climb up the ladder at Virgin, where he is now Head of Content. He gives Brighton a lot of credit for his success: “I wouldn’t have got into my first job as a news agency reporter without the NCTJ qualification, and I wouldn’t have got freelance music commissions without the guidance of University of Brighton lecturers.” He adds: “For those willing to work, the course provides everything necessary to get a foothold in the industry.”

To anyone thinking of applying to Brighton, Vishal has this advice: “Don’t think about it any longer, just do it!”
