Gary’s Channel swim success

On 30 August, triple Brighton alumnus, Dr Gary Brickley, successfully swam the English Channel in a time of 11 hours and 47 minutes. Gary works in the School of Sport and Service Management as a Senior Lecturer and exercise physiologist.

Gary completed the swim in a pretty fast time – the Channel Swimming Association says the fastest ever time is around seven hours and the slowest nearly 27 hours.

Gary said: “It’s an amazing achievement. This was solo, just me swimming straight to Cap Gris Nez.” Gary is planning to raise money for charity from the swim.
